Leaving No Stones Unturned: Team GPA’s Galileos X-ray System

Dental examination and diagnosis will be enhanced with a German-manufactured X-ray system now available in Singapore. Team GPA is the only dental practice in Singapore that has the Galileos X-ray system - capturing a three-dimensional X-ray scan for its patients in place of traditional two-dimensional X-rays like orthopantomographs, periapical and bitewing.

A diagnostic 3D volume also goes far beyond any two-dimensional images and allows for precise assessment of the teeth, bone structure and anatomical features in their exact spatial dimensions.

The introduction of a new dimension also allows for imaging and display of the entire oral-maxillofacial region in one 3D volume. Consequently, the treatment can be assessed and planned in one step.

This means that patients will only need a single low-dose (the lowest in the industry) 3D scan in 14 seconds, without the need for multiple 2D X-rays that do not indicate bone structures and soft tissue as clearly as the Galileos system. Team GPA dentist will now have the ability to do thorough diagnosis and generate patients’ treatment plans in a shorter period of time.

The Galileos system is the latest in Team GPA’s holistic approach to comprehensive examination and diagnosis for their patients. Team GPA dentists wear equipment called loupes to magnify patients’ teeth up to five times, even during the course of cleaning, to ensure high quality treatment.

Team GPA also uses intraoral cameras that magnifies and projects patients’ teeth onto a computer screen. This aids discussion between dentist and patients. More importantly, patients are able to physical see what their dentists see and understand the latter’s diagnosis.

“As clinicians, we want to leave no stones unturned and give our patients a peace of mind. The Galileos 3D X-ray system, as part of our holistic E&D (examination and diagnosis), will give our dentists a clearer assessment of what needs to be done for our patients,” says Dr. Wilson Goh, managing director of Team GPA.
