TEAM GPA DEPLOYS LATEST TECHNOLOGIES BOOSTING SINGAPORE AS A MEDICAL HUB BIOLASE Technology appoints Team GPA as its sole Reference Site in Asia Pacific 30 Oct 2008 Home-grown dental group Team GPA, which adopts technology as its cutting edge in dentistry, has recently been appointed by world's leading dental laser company, BIOLASE Technology as its sole reference site for the Waterlase MD™ System in the Asia-Pacific region. BIOLASE Technology develops, manufactures and markets lasers and related products that advance the practice of dentistry and medicine. Waterlase MD™ is a revolutionary dental system that uses a combination of Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium Garnet (YSGG) laser energy and water. The process is known as HydroPhotonics™. It replaces the drill and dental scalpel in many dental procedures with lesser or no need for anaesthetics. These procedures range from cavity treatment to more complex surgeries including wisdom teeth surgeries and implant surgeries. Team GPA, which handles about 150 such cases monthly, is also the only dental group in Singapore to utilise the Waterlase MD™ system which incorporates laser technology into dentistry. As a result, Team GPA’s patients no longer have to undergo pain, drilling, multiple injections or extensive surgery in their dental treatments. The Waterlase MD™ system is capable of treating targeted areas of tooth structure and gum tissue while leaving surrounding areas unaffected, eliminating damage and conserving healthy tissue. In addition, the system does not transmit heat or vibration, a major cause of the discomfort associated with the dental drill. It also reduces bleeding, post-operative pain and swelling in many procedures. With this state-of-the-art technology, patients with Team GPA can now have their procedures completed in just one visit with the Waterlase MD™ system. Other innovative and cutting-edge dental systems found at Team GPA’s three clinics include the CEREC (CAD-CAM) 3D restoration system and Galileos 3D imaging system, all targeted at patients who want specialised and precise treatments. The CEREC 3D restoration system, encompasses a 3D photo-imaging, designing crowns or veneers that blend in with the patients’ teeth, and even produces the veneer immediately through automated milling, so that patients can complete their treatments in just one visit. Approximately 8,700 cases were handled by the dentists at Team GPA, since the first introduction of the system in 2002. Team GPA also utilises the Galileos 3D Imaging System, to effectively diagnose the patients’ conditions, with the lowest levels of radiation emitted. The system also allows Team GPA dentists to study the patient’s teeth in 3D, improving diagnostics so that problem areas can be spotted and treated early, with over 90 cases handled every month. It is most useful in treatment planning, especially in the field of dental implants. Industry recognition comes in many forms.
